Christmas Cards & Cookies Blog Hop

There was so many responses to the Christmas Cards & Cookies Blog Hop that it had to be split between two weekends. This is Round One and begins Saturday, Dec. 3rd, continuing through Sunday, Dec. 4th. Round Two will be held next weekend. We have a talented group of women who love papercrafting and baking. Each of them is sharing a recipe for a yummy Christmas treat along with a Christmas card or tag. Hopefully, you’ll pick up some great ideas for your own Christmas gift giving this season. So, grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy!

My recipe is for Chocolate Crinkles. The recipe is as follows:

2 cups granulated sugar

1/2 cup vegetable oil

4 ozs melted unsweetened chocolate

2 tsp vanilla

4 eggs

2 cups flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup powdered sugar

Mix granulated sugar, oil, chocolate and vanilla. Mix in eggs one at a time. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into balls, roll in powdered sugar and place about 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.

A Fun Little Christmas Card

For my project I have created.....This cute Turkey card!

I started with a brown base, added patterned paper on the bottom 1/3 then layered with green cardstock punched with my border punch. The turkey body is free handed and the tail feathers are made by cutting 1" x 1 1/2" strips and rounding one corner then fanning the out. The eyes and feet are drawn on using a gel pen, the beak and warbler are cut free hand. A ribbon was also added.

Now for the fun part -- the BLOG CANDY! For my project I have created..... A cute little candy nuget wrapper!

I created this by covering a Hershey nugget candy with a strip of brown paper. The tail is made using 3 scallop circles trimmed flat on the bottom so it sits correctly. The face is a punched circle, with a triangle for a beak and free hand cut the warbler. The had it made with a black square and black strip a little longer than the square. I then took a strip of white paper and made the "buckle" with black and white squares. I just drew the eyes on the face.

Now for the fun part -- the BLOG CANDY! A start on my Christmas presents

I wanted to come up with an idea for my grand kids who are going to Disney next year. So I came up with a mini album for them to put their pictures into. I got idea from this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZtPBpzc-Bw&feature=related

I have a challenge there too and this is what I came up with: For you to scrap a page without pictures but of a poem for a Mother or Grandmother. It can either be a poem that you find online, one of your favorite poems or a poem written to you personally.

A few projects to share

I've been working on some challenges for Colorful Creations and I finally got the pics taken so I could share.
The first challenge was a scraplift challenge. I did this one and the next one for my son's album so I just need to add the pictures to them.

This one was a Guest Designer - sketch challenge:

Next up was the Cricut Cafe challenge. We were to use our cricut to label something.....so I made these little signs that can go on a dresser for a little one........or anyone!

The next one was called "Inspired By" and we were given the Beatles song "A Little Help From My Friends". I chose the line "How do I feel by the end of the day" and decided to show you the results!
(disclaimer: all photos are posed except the one on the bottom left) With that being said, you might say I had "A little help from my friends!" Thanks ladies!!!

Wabeno Time!!!

We have been here since last night and there has been a LOT of creating! I'm so excited because the rest of the gang gets here today! I just wanted to share a few of the things we will be doing for challenges this weekend,

There is a layout/card sketch challenge, an altered clipboard, tri-shutter card, trellis card, match book mini album, altered tag, toilet paper tube mini album, gift card holder, mini album using one 12 x 12 sheet of double sided cardstock, and an envelope mini album.

Tomorrow the ladies come for pampering........massage time!

Just some crafting going on

I have a couple of things that I've done and just wanted to share. First is the birthday invite for my grand daughter's first birthday.

Then I did a page for a challenge in honor of Father's Day:

Finally I made a flower ball by starting with a 6 inch square of paper:

one of these squares makes one petal:

Five petals make one flower:

Twelve of these flowers and some ribbons make the entire flower ball. Put together in 2 halves so the ribbons can be glued inside:

Busy Day

Well we have 3 of the 5 grandkids this weekend. We were up at 7 am, I had blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes made for everyone, got everyone dressed and out the door by 9 am. We went to a special "Dairy Days festival" where the kids had face painting, free ice cream, milk, gogurts, played games and went through a petting zoo! We then went to the park and rode the train and merry go round, came back to town and went to Hobby Lobby. The kids picked out papers to make mini paper bag albums. What fun!!! We came home, had lunch, rested for a bit, went to the water splash pad to play, came home had dinner, did our projects, gave the kids baths and snacks and now everyone is ready for bed! What a fun (but busy) day!

Dylan even made a special project (for boys only) with grandpa that he is going to give daddy for Father's Day!

Busy Weekend

Well I've been a very busy girl! Not just with scrapping but with life in general. This past weekend my daughter and I were in Wisconsin Dells for Junior Convo! This is a great weekend to help kids and adults alike get together and worship God. We were on the design team which means we helped to plan this event. We also went back and forth between two motels (on the opposite sides of town) because my Girl Scout troop was there for a weekend. Then on Sunday it was on to baptism for my two youngest grand daughters. Whew!!!!

I did manage to get a couple of projects done for challenges. They are an explosion box and an altered clip board. Enjoy. I'm off to get some scrappin done!

Here are my projects that I've gotten done for the Scrap-a-thon at Colorful Creations. There are 5 layouts and 10 cards. Sorry the pictures are not better, I'm working on a different way to take good, clear pictures. I'll share my photo box when it's done.

Layouts, Cards and Crops.......Oh My!

Today is National Scrapbooking Day! I'm involved in many crops, challenges, and fun games today. Come join the fun at Paper Secrets and Colorful Creations and Big Picture Classes. There are some pretty awesome blog hops out there too, be sure to check them out. I'm working on a "sketch-a-thon" with 10 layouts and 10 cards. I will post pictures later today! In between I'm working on other challenges and checking the websites to see how the games are coming along and to play too! Well, I better grab a quick bite to eat and a good drink and get back to work. So much to do.......not enough hours in the day!!!

Card Crazy

I've been working on a few cards lately, along with many other layouts and items for challenges. I have these done so far. This one I made for an upcoming birthday.

This is one I did for a challenge. I used a Kenny K digi design.

This one I made for my mom for Mother's Day. This one was fun to make and I'm sure she will love it.

Here is another layout I did for a Bingo challenge at Paper Secrets. I was to have something with wings, one photo only, stamping, eyelets and blue. The wings are the butterfly, the eyelets are the centers of the flowers and the stamping is the title.

Celebrating Family

Here is a sketch challenge I did at Paper Secrets. The sketch was compliments of Pencil Lines:

This is what I did with it:

I did some light random stamping on the background paper. The word "Celebrate" is embossed, there ae brads on the sides of the pictures and the butterfly, dragon fly and flowers are some fun stickers I had. The ribbon is a rainbow color that happens to be one of my favorites!

Organizing

It's been a bit since I've been on here to blog anything. I have, however, been busy doing some creating. I made this tray to organize my misting inks. I started with this plain wooden tray.....

Then I painted it lime green.....

Then I used Mod Podge to put the striped paper on the bottom.....

I added a bit of "frill" and this is what I got! All ready to put on the shelf after adding my glimmer mists.

Baptism Invites

Well, I am in the process of making Baptism invites for two of my granddaughters. They will be baptized on the same day so that makes it easier! The top of the card is embossed and then I used a Martha Stewart punch for the "lace look" at the bottom. Used the circut to cut out the flower shape in the center and put it on with pop dots to give it a little dimension. Card inspiration is from Angella Crockett at bodymindspiritandstamps.blogspot.com.

I think it turned out pretty cute if you ask me!

Lock In Weekend

Well, I'm finally getting my energy back after hosting our local Girl Scout lock in. We had a wonderful time with the girls playing different games like Family Fued, Wipeout (obstacle course), Amazing Race (scavenger hunt) and Minute to Win It games. They also swam and ice skated! Makes me tired all over again.........
On the up side to this, I am back to my creating table! I will be uploading new pictures of my latest projects and pages soon.

Punkin Patch

Here is my take on a challenge from Paper Secrets Birthday Bash. The challenge was to use an item starting with each letter of the word P-A-R-T-Y. I used P=pumpkin and pen lines, A=alphas, R=Ribbon along the left side of the picture, T-twine for the journaling lines and Y=yellow paper.

Well, I finally finished the pages for the five mini scrapbooks for the grandkids. Now I just need to get the pictures together to put on the pages and do a little embelishing/journaling and they will be complete. I got the hard part done! I will post pictures soon.
